7 year Survivor

How have you been touched by breast cancer?

I was diagnosed with stage one Invasive Ductal Carcinoma ER+ in December 2013. My treatment consisted of a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. This was a very difficult time for me, but I knew every step of the way that it could have been much worse. I am so very happy to say that I’m a seven year survivor!

What is one fun fact about you?

I LOVE all outdoor adventures but I hate bugs! Unless it’s winter, that can be a problem!

How did you find CREW309?

I saw an article in the newspaper of cancer survivors rowing on the Illinois River. I mentioned to a fellow survivor who was in the picture that it looked like fun and she asked me to come to a practice and check it out. I was nervous to go, but am so glad I did!

What does CREW309 mean to you?

CREW309 has changed my life! Since joining, I am consistently exercising and improving my physical and mental health. I have learned that I can do things that I never thought was possible. I am encouraged and energized by the many amazing women that I have met and am so grateful to call them friends, we all have a very special bond!
